Obesity: A Weight Disorder

By Aasheesh Jain Once in a while as we walk down the road we come across a man or a woman who is characteristically different from his or peers, simply because of their bodies' girth. They are regularly looked upon as strange beings and are constantly giggled about. What is alarming is the fact that the world population of the obese is on such a steep rise that there is an imminent danger that those who laugh at them today would be among them tomorrow. That precisely explains why the experts across the globe are worried about the situation. For, being obese does not only mean being aesthetically inferior but also means being far more prone to a great number of diseases than a normal man with normal weight. Obesity is described as a condition in which the fatty tissues which are the natural energy reserve for our bodies increase so much as to heighten the risk of certain health conditions or increase mortality. Obesity is a product of human-environment interaction and has come to haunt us, the humans, simply because we have progressively taken to a more sedentary lifestyle, almost completely bereft of physical activity. Don't be surprised, for those rare occasions when your lift wasn't working and you had to take the stairs instead does not count for a 'physical activity'. Going out and playing a game or brisk walking everyday in the morning for an hour or so is what you must do to keep yourself healthy and fit. Excessive body weight has been found to be so closely associated with diseases, particularly cardiovascular diseases, that medical practitioners the world over have starting treating obesity as a symptom of many diseases. It is being increasingly seen as a public health hazard. Obesity is evaluated in terms of Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference, and the risk factors. However, so far as epidemiological studies are concerned, BMI alone is considered to measure the obesity. BMI or Body Mass index is attributed to a Belgian anthropometrist and statistician, Adolphe Quetelet. BMI is calculated by dividing one's weight in kilograms by the square of his or her height in metres. Where the BMI is under 18.5, the person is considered to be underweight. If it is between 18.5 and 24.9, the fellow is considered to be of normal weight. However, a BMI between 25.0 and 29.9 characterizes an overweight person while if it is between 30.0 and 39.9, the person is downright obese. www.thelosspill.com/ & Weight Loss provides detailed information on weight loss, weight loss tips, herbal weight loss and more. 4 Fun Ways to Display Photos

By Lesley Dietschy From baby pictures to vacation pictures, images of family and friends are treasures that are kept for a lifetime. They make great gifts and add cheer and warmth to the interiors of our homes. Below are four fun ways to display your favorite photos. 1. Display photos on a 1-2 wide ribbon using self-adhesive Velcro circles or squares: Select desired photos and trim if necessary. Select ribbon and cut to desired length. Place self-adhesive Velcro on the back of the photos. Arrange photos on ribbon and be sure to press Velcro firmly in place. If desired, decorate open spaces of ribbon with beads, buttons, glitter, etc. Tie a bow at the top of the ribbon. 2. Refrigerator Photo Magnets: Select photo and cut out to desired size. You might want to make a copy of the photo to use in place of the original photo. Using photo-safe glue, attach the photo to a piece of medium to heavy weight cardboard. Cut the cardboard to the same size as photo. You can use regular or decorative edged craft scissors. This is the step where you can get really creative! Instead of cutting the cardboard the same size as the photo, leave a border around the photo and decorate with beads, miniature flowers, etc. Using craft glue, attach a magnet to the back of the cardboard and press firmly in place. Allow glue to dry completely. 3. Photo Collage: Purchase a frame and a mat or poster board that will fit inside the frame. Select photos to be used and arrange (overlapping) on the mat or poster board. Using decorative edged craft scissors, trim around photos in fun designs and shapes, such as hearts or circles. Using photo-safe glue, attach photos to mat or poster board in the desired arrangement. Allow glue to dry and place finished collage inside the frame. 4. Photo Standups: Select photo and enlarge on a color copier until the person or image is at least 5 inches tall. Using craft glue or a glue stick, attached the copied image to a piece of heavy card stock or foamboard. Carefully cut out around image. To display the photo standup use fun picture clips, attach a magnet to the back, or purchase (from a craft store) a precut, slotted strip of wood or plastic to hold photos upright. You can also make a stand from the heavy card stock or foamboard. These photo standups are also great for decorating packages or using as centerpieces for party decorations. As you can see, these four inexpensive ways to display your favorite photos can be a lot of fun to create. Get your children involved and make some unique gifts to give to your family and friends. Multi-Media Shows Add Value to Trade Show Exhibits

By Dick Wheeler If you are planning to have an exhibit in an upcoming trade show whether it be a custom trade show exhibit, a custom modular trade show display, or a rental trade show booth dont overlook the opportunity of having a multi media show at your trade show booth. Every trade show exhibit has the potential of having some sort of a multi media show inside its trade show booth. It can be as simple as a Power Point presentation on a 17 monitor run from a laptop, to a much more elaborately produced multi media presentation shown on a giant screen. According to Steve Hermosillo, Creative Director of Professional Exhibits & Graphics a premiere trade show company in Sunnyvale, California, eighty five percent of trade show exhibitors take advantage of using multi- media in their trade show displays today. The first step is to identify the need for a multi-media show and then have the media message compliment the clients marketing goals. The question, then, is how can you use multi media to portray the companys message accurately and effectively? Hermosillo advises that company management and their marketing team first agree on the message, and then convert that message into a mixed media medium. Hermosillo sites three reasons why multi media presentations are so effective: #1. Education. Multi media shows powerfully and effortlessly educate trade show attendees about the companys new products and services. Install a continuous two minute (or more) multi media loop that visually shows and talks about the new product the audio/visual show can effectively answer questions of who we are, what we do, and why we do it. This background media loop can be playing in the trade show exhibit as your trade show booth staff talks to attendees. The recorded show also gives your staff a break from repeating the same basic information. #2. Excitement -- Flashing images, upbeat music, and
catchy animation all build intrigue and interest. Prospects are attracted to your trade show exhibit which features music, flashing images and animated graphics when strolling the trade show aisles. #3. Interaction -- By pushing buttons, your trade show exhibit guests can
navigate their way through your companys story. This experiential involvement helps to engage your companys prospects in a direct way and brings them another step closer to contact with your presentations story. An added benefit of your multi media show is that you can re-use this media presentation in other ways, such as posting it on your companys website. The media show can also be reconfigured to fit other concerns of your marketing team such as sales training or personal sales calls. Remember, you can use multi media shows at your trade show display to help educate, excite and involve trade show attendees. The multi media show also adds drama to your trade show display. This is true wherever you have a trade show exhibitwhether it is at the McCormick Convention Center in Chicago, the Kaiser Convention Center in Oakland, the Moscone Center in San Francisco, the Santa Clara Convention Center or the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. Top Three Safety Tips for Online Dating

By Rebekah Spicer Although Christina had been chatting online and via telephone with Justin for six months, and felt that she was falling in love with him, something about their last conversation just did not seem right. Finally, after all these months, they were making plans to meet in person, and she had been so excited. She had been planning to drive eight hours on Friday after work to see him in his hometown, be introduced to his friends, and get to know him in person. Today, however, when she suggested they meet in a local coffee-house or restaurant for the first time, he had hesitated, then refused. He said he would feel more comfortable if they met in private, at his apartment or a local wooded park. Christina felt uncomfortable, and wondered if she should go through with it or not. Warning signs seemed to flash in her mind. Unfortunately, although most guys/girls you will meet in an online dating situation are normal, honest people, there are the few that are not. Online dating is a wonderful way to connect, and has a terrific success rate. However, there are still many important safety rules to follow. Here are three of the most important ones: 1. Get to know someone via the dating site's online messaging system before you give out personal information. Be very careful about just giving out personal information (name, address, phone numbers) without knowing who you are really talking to. 2. Before meeting your potential date in person, ask for references from his/her pastor, minister, job supervisor, friends, etc. Try to speak to these people in person. Make sure the person you are talking to is really who she/he say they are. 3. Never meet in private for the first meeting. Always notify friends or family of where you will be meeting and pick a public place. Even after the first date, it is a good idea to at least let one other good friend or family member know where you will be. There are lots of other safety tips on dating websites such as http://www.christian-online-dating-guide.com Read up on internet dating safety, and don't put yourself at risk. Date safe. Old-Time Favorites: Plants for Your Garden Worth Remembering

By Nikki Phipps Remember the almost magical feeling of your grandmothers garden, bursting with loads of colorful, fragrant blooms and magnificent foliage? There was always something going on in the garden; and nearly every plant had a specific purpose, whether it was for the kitchen, treating ailments, or keeping up appearances. Gardeners of the past created beautiful landscapes with many of the same plants commonly seen today. Heirloom plants are quite hardy, and many of these vintage flowers have managed to survive on their own throughout centuries, while others have been cultivated into more modern varieties. Nonetheless, these old-time favorites are worth remembering so why not rediscover the past by incorporating some old-fashioned beauties into your own garden. One of my personal favorites has been around since about the 17th century. A spectacular showpiece during the spring, the Lilac has sweet-smelling lavender blossoms. Today, there are numerous cultivars available, including some with yellow or white flowers. Another exceptional plant in its own right is the rose. The modern varieties are typically grown for their form and color; however, the old-garden varieties, such as Tea or Damask roses, are sought after for their intense aromas. While these traditional favorites tend to be more like shrubs and very thorny, they combine well with many perennials, bulbs, and ornamental grasses. Old-garden roses are always the perfect choice for country or cottage gardens. There are many types of plants that are grown for their fragrances. Creeping Thyme is one of them. This beautiful groundcover creates a carpet of scented lavender-pink color and looks just as attractive spilling over stone walls or containers. Keep it near the house for use in the kitchen or making potpourri. You can even grow Creeping Thyme alongside another fragrant old-timerLavender, my grandmothers favorite. Varieties of lavender include unforgettable scents with spikes of lavender to dark purple flowers. Lavender also makes a great groundcover and commonly used in potpourri or massage oils. Garden Heliotrope was once just as popular in the garden as geraniums. These plants, with white or purple vanilla-scented blooms, enjoy plenty of sun and make lovely cut flowers. Who can possibly ignore the sweet aromas on summer evenings radiating from a bed of Petunias? There are numerous colors and varieties, all providing the same charm of long ago. The Sweet Pea has been a long-time favorite in many gardens. This flower is great for cutting and its strong scents will fill the area with pleasant aromas. Although sweet peas generally prefer cool summers and plenty of moisture, there are many varieties which are heat tolerant, allowing virtually anyone the ability to grow them. Feverfew not only smells great, but did you know that its foliage can repel insects, making them a good plant to have around. The plant looks quite at home mixed with old-time roses and foxgloves. I have always enjoyed the honey-scented blooms of Sweet Alyssum. It makes a perfect edging for beds and blends nicely with nearly any type of landscape. Since many old-fashioned gardens were surrounded by fencing, flowering vines were often used to enhance its appearance. They were also used in other areas to help provide much needed shade. Dating back to the 1800s, Clematis has long since been known as a vigorous grower with abundant blooms. Dont limit them to fences; however, they look stunning climbing along a trellis or pergola. The Passion flower can be traced as far back as the 1600s and has religious significance, deriving its name from the crucifixion of Christ. This lovely flowering vine produces masses of scented blooms bearing luscious fruits, and many grow naturally in some areas. The Balloon Vine (love-in-a-puff) was a commonly grown plant in the 1800s, delighting children with its light-green, inflated seed capsules (puffs) that appear after the vines white flowers have faded. While some people may not appreciate its presence, due to its ability to climb anything within reach, the Morning Glory is another unforgettable plant. Morning glories are easy to grow and thrive in all types of soil conditions. Although they can be found growing in the wild, the cultivated varieties are less likely to take over the garden. These beautiful morning bloomers make quite a statement summer through fallwhat a wonderful way to welcome each new day. Numerous annuals and perennials were found growing throughout old-fashioned gardens. As far back as the 1800s, Ageratum has been a garden favorite. The long-lasting, fuzzy blue flowers are great for cutting. Its also a self-sowing plant, popping up in some of the most unlikely of places. Plant them with Heliotrope and sweet alyssum; you wont be disappointed. Poppies are hardy, cool-weather annuals that are easy to grow. These old-time plants prefer fertile, well-drained soil and come in numerous shades and varieties. Once grown for its edible properties, especially for salads, Nasturtiums are among the easiest annuals to grow. You can find them in a variety of colors which will bloom profusely for extended periods. Trailing varieties look great in containers or tumbling down slopes; the compact types are good for use as edging. An old-time favorite loved for its brilliant foliage is Coleus. This plant is ideal for containers or as a colorful edging. No garden is ever complete without Zinnias. These colorful showstoppers are excellent for cut-flower gardens. The interesting flowers and foliage of Foxgloves earn these plants a welcome place in the garden; however, foxgloves are considered poisonous so keep young children away. One look in grandmas garden and youre sure to find some old-fashioned Hollyhocks. These summer-blooming beauties have found popularity in informal country settings or growing alongside fences and other structures. Violets have been around awhile and well loved for some time. They make a good groundcover or grow them in containers. Columbine has been popular since about the 1600s and can be found in white, pink, or blue varieties. Use them as cut flowers or simply mix them in a natural setting with hosta, iris, foxglove, and ladys mantle. Another personal favorite of mine includes the mixed shades of Sweet William. This perennial flower goes well with many plants, such as foxgloves and peonies. Some of the most beloved flower favorites come in the form of bulbs and many are ideal for cutting. Dahlias have lavish blooms during late summer and early fall and are available in a variety of colors. Who doesnt enjoy the lovely blooms and aromas of the Iris? There are numerous varieties to suit nearly any garden. Another old-time favorite with a wide range of colors and growing conditions is the Lily. Lilies have a long history and have been grown for centuries. Cannas have also been popular for their dazzling array of colors. Plant them in masses and enjoy waves of colorful blooms summer through fall. Some of the best plants for your garden, big or small, can be taken from the old-fashioned gardens of the past. These plants have lasted through many generations; and if you want to capture the nostalgia of grandmothers garden in your own, they will continue to do so for many more. When To Choose Massage Therapy As Primary Health Care Modality

By Roger Fontaine When would someone choose massage therapy as a remedial therapeutic healing modality?
The intent of this article is to provide insights to consumers when choosing a health provider. When is it appropriate to choose massage therapy. My motives are to market my clnic because I am a massage therapist, and partly to be helpful because the public doesn't know what services massage therapists provide. I also wish to take the burden off physicians, chiropractors, and physiotherapists who are being overtaxed for their services for some treatments which can best be perfomed by massage therapists. When is it appropriate to go to the massage therapist?
For most muscular and joint aches and pains.
Some doctors don't think of massage therapy as a healing modality when they have a patient come into their office who may have other more serious symptoms. Massage therapy has been shown to be beneficial in treating injuries which result from trauma, surgery, or workplace and vehicle accidents. The rehabilitation protocol for restoring full range of motion and strength to muscles and joints is practiced by qualified therapeutic massage therapists. Massage therapists have thorough training in assessment of muscle and joint imbalances and can successfully treat these dysfunctions and restrictions. Massage therapy has its place in the healing forum. So How to Choose? There are some healing techniques which physiotherapy performs better and some which massage therapy performs better.
How will you know which treatment is better at the time of rehabilitation? Massage therapy or physiotherapy?
Ask your local professional massage therapist and physiotherapist for a description of their different treatments. Then you can make an informed choice.
How will you know which treatment is for you?
It's sometimes difficult to decide. So trusting your professionals requries asking some questions!
Sometimes it comes down to training and experience with your particular condition!
Ask your health provider whether they've treated this condition before and what the results were. Why should a consumer choose massage therapy as a healing modality?
Because it is a scientifically proven method of healing. Because it is established fact that massage therapies
are capable of providing relief from pain, relieving the patient of symptoms which either restrict movement
or limit range of motion of a particular extremity or body part. Because massage therapies are capable of restorative and maintenance functions in sustaining wellness. Because massage therapists are capable to treat patients in acute, sub-acute, and chronic stages of injury and healing. Because some massage therapists are trained in various modalities of hydrotherapy treatments which complement massage therapy and can be used integrally. The health consumer's choice of healing modality depends on many variables. The three most important factors which I will focus on are: 1. Time spent between the healer and the patient.
How much time does it take you to tell your health provider about your complete medical history?
Fifteen minutes!
Doctors, chiropractors, physiotheraists, massage therapists; all ask approximately the same questions, but each specialist goes about it with different means yet with the desire to achieve the same goal: to restore the patient to a state of health, balance or equilibrium.
Because of the ways in which doctors and chiropractors are paid, by billing the medical health authorities, contributes to the length of time which they spend with the patient: statistically an average of ten(10) minutes per patient. The massage therapist, on the other hand, is not paid by the provincial health authorities, but usually contracts with their patients for periods of a half-hour or hour appointments. These are either paid in cash or billed to a group insurance plan which covers massage therapies. It's not that they work by the hour, or for an hourly rate, but the therapist books that time slot with the patient to allow the necessary time for appropriate and adequate assessment and treatments. The patient pays for the therapist's training and expertise and for their manipulations, mobilizations, and other corrective techniques. 2. Determination of the most appropriate modality of healing for a particular condition, ailment, or pathology.
Another important feature in selecting a healing option is the determination of what type of healer is best suited for a particular type of dysfunction.Because each specialist has their different protocols, each will have a different set of ojbectives and tools with which to work.
a)The doctor examines the body from a systemic approach, examining the skin, circulation, respiration, eye/ear/nose complex, digestion, etc., reduces the symptoms to a limited number of likely pathologies, then prescribes appropriate medications which will help to eliminate pain and relieve symptoms, and hopefully restore systemic homeostasis or equilibrium. " If the pain persists past a week, come back and see me", is the common refrain. With a return visit the physician then proceed to perform a more lengthy and detailed examination and testing until a more particular diagnosis is obtained and a more specific prescription of medications can be given.
b)The chiropractor will manipulate the spine or joints to restore neurological functioning by re-aligning vertebrae which were subluxated, and restoring nutritional and circulatory pathways to the body parts being served by those spinal nerve roots. They will assess muscle texture abnormalities before and after manipulations to determine whether the treatments have been effective.
c)The massage therapist will ,like the doctors and chiropractors, take a detailed medical patient history, eliminate possible pathologies which the patient is known to have and claims to not have, performs assessment of joints and muscles to ascertain restrictions; utilizes deep tissue and peripheral joint manipulations as well as active and passive stretches and neural inhibition and stimulation techniques to help restore bilateral symmetry and restore tissue texture normality. The massage therapist have their place in the medical professional community of healing. Their focus is both systemic and specific. It specializes upon the musculo-skeletal aspect of the patient but not excluding the other aspects which the doctor or chiropractor takes into consideration when assessing the patient. The massage therapist includes the medical pathologies which the patient reports into their patient history. The massage therapist takes into consideration the spinal and neurological dysfunctions which may be reported by the patient when assessing the patient and setting up a treatment protocol. The massage therapist then proceeds to perform a series of visual and palpatory examination of muscles and joints mobilizations and range of motions to discover restrictions and asymmetries, which many times are the causes of the aches or pains and the consequences of hypertonic muscles, restricted joints, or weak muscles having either a muscular or a neurological cause or origin. The massage therapist is capable through a range of techniques to restore normal resting tone and function to the muscles and joints while providing the patient with appropriate stretching and strenghening of muscles which are involved. 3. Cost of treatment or service to consumer
The method of billing and payment determines to a large extent when a consumer will choose their healing modality. The cost to the health consumer of the visit to the doctor is hidden in the provincial tax structure. The health consumer also gets a fixed nunmber of 'free' visits to the chiropractor with a 'topping-up' fee which chiropractors charge without which they would not be able to operate their clinics profitably. The massage therapist charges between $40.00 and $60.00 for consulation, assessment, and treatments which usually take between a half-hour to an hour, averaging 45 minutes.
This cost is borne by the patient and/or partially subsidized by a personal group insurance plan. Some of these plans such as Blue Cross, or Great West Life, Sun LIfe, Mutual Life, cover from 80%-100% of massage therapy treatments if covered in their particular employee plans.
The big difference in choosing a healing modality comes when one is involved in a motor vehicle accident"MVA".
In Manitoba only chiropractors and physiotherapists are able to obtain coverage for patients from either Autopac or
Workers Compensation in the event of a workplace injury. Therefore it is cheaper, much cheaper to visit a chiropractor or physiotherapist in these instances.
Therefore most of patients involved in these types of injuries choose the physiotherapy or chiropractic healing modality when in many instances massage and hydrotherapies would be beneficial in assisting healing and shorten the healing time with restrictions to muscles and limited range of motions to joints. STANDARDS FOR MASSAGE THERAPISTS AND REGULATION OF THE MEMBERSHIP In Manitoba massage therapists may work professionally once they belong to an association and obtain the appropriate licenses and permits which vary between municipalities and urban jurisdictions. The minimum requirement in rural Manitoba is membership to an association. The three main associations which regulate massage therapists vary as to their requirements for membership. The London County Society of Physiologists and the Massage Therapists of Manitoba both require a 2200 hour course to qualify for their membership. The Association of Massage Therapists and Wholistic Practitioners requires a minimum 1000 hour course to qualify for membership.
The City of Winnipeg recognizes this minimum standard and provides licenses to massage therapists with this level of training. Any complaints about professional conduct can be reported to the various associations and the discipline which will be enforced varies between associations. At the time of writing of this article there is not a provincial standard for massage therapists and there doesn't exist the political will at this time to enforce one. There exists a national body which is attempting to consolidate the various provincial massage associations and the federal government has indicated that there is a desire federally to institute a national standard within the near future to allow for the movement of labour interprovincially. Currently a massage therapist may operate with a 400 hour course in Quebec, a 1000 hour course in Manitoba, and a 3000 hour course in British Colombia. The standard will probably become the 2200 hour course nationally which approximates a two year full time or three year part-time curriculum. So how does a health consumer know how to recognize the qualifications of a massage therapist in Manitoba:
Only by asking individual professionals with which association they are affiliated and what length of course have they achieved. Roger Fontaine is a registered massage therapist who is operating a massage clinic offering therapeutic and stress-reduction table services and mobile service for chair massage in the workplace for special events, fundraisers, tournaments, celebrations, and any other function which requires a unique special feature. I have been operating at Shapes Fitness Centre at 12-1150 Nairn Avenue in Elmwood Winnipeg since 2004, previously having operated a home residential clinic since 1999. Rhode Island Litigation FAQS Written By a Rhode Island (RI) Attorney

By David Slepkow 1) I believe that I have been wronged by another individual or entity, what should I do next? You should contact an attorney promptly. One reason is that you will not run the risk of having your claim barred by the statute of limitations. Also, your recollection of the events is crucial and as time goes by your memory may fade. 2) How do I commence a civil lawsuit? A civil lawsuit is commenced when a plaintiff serves a Complaint and a Summons upon the defendant. The complaint is the legal document that sets forth the alleged misconduct by the defendant. The summons is the legal document that directs the defendant to appear before
the court. 3) What should I do if I am served with a Summons and Complaint? You should seek the advice of an attorney immediately. As the summons instructs, you only have twenty (20) days in which to respond to the Complaint. If the 20 days period passes, the defendant will be in default and lose the case. The response to the Complaint is called an Answer. This legal document sets forth the defendants defenses and counterclaims against
the plaintiff. 4) How much will it cost to hire an attorney? Every lawyer is free to set his own billing method. There are many different types of billing methods: An attorney might choose a contingent fee, where you only pay the attorney if you win the case, or may offer a flat one time fee or may simply bill hourly. Usually the attorney will determine which method is best by the type of litigation in question. Slepkow, Slepkow & Associates never charges any fee in a personal injury case unless successful. 5) How long before the lawsuit will be finished? It depends. After the pleadings (Complaint and Answer) have been served, there is a discovery process. This is the period when the parties obtain all of the facts of the case. The length of this process depends on the complexity of the case. The overwhelming majority of cases are settled long before trial. David Slepkow is a Rhode Island lawyer handling personal injury, automobile accidents, slip and fall, serious injuries, civil litigation, child support, divorce, custody and visitation. David has been practicing for over 9 years and is licensed in Rhode Island (RI), Massachusetts (MA) and Federal Court. A Honeymoon Like No Other

By Vlady Peters When it comes to choosing a honeymoon destination its usually sandy beaches and blue waters here, a historical sight there, or a luxurious pampering from morning till night somewhere else. The other day, though, looking through the various web sites, I came across a honeymoon destination which must surely be the most unique of them all. Its available only four months out of every year, and then it disappears from existence. Eight months later its back again. For four months again. The Ice Hotel of Quebec, Canada, welcomes guests only from January to April. The rest of the year the hotel ceases to exist because its whole structure is made from 400 tons of ice, and 12,000 tons of snow and needs the winter snows to bring it to life. A work of art in itself, it takes five weeks to erect, has impressive 18 foot ceilings, and walls adorned with original paintings made out of ice. It never repeats itself, so every stay is bound to amaze. The hotel includes an ice chapel in which the couple can pledge their troth, a cinema in which to while away an hour or two, and an exhibition room with ice exhibits such as paintings, statues, and furniture all made out of snow and ice. Apart from the fact that the materials used in the building of the hotel arent the usual brick and mortar, you can still sit around a real fire, though when snuggling into bed youll probably find a deer pelt and a sleeping bag made for two. And when toasting each other with champagne, youll be doing it with ice goblets instead of just the usual crystal. For something to do theres dog-sledding and all the other snow-oriented sports, as well as hot-air ballooning. At night you can visit the night club where your drink will never run out of ice. Needless to say, being a hotel completely made of ice, it is a bit chilly, so if you and your partner decide to exchange your wedding vows at the ice hotel, you might like to rent a fur cape or coat so that you can be warm as well as good-looking. And dont be worried about missing out on your wedding photographs or flowers, or limousines. The hotel might be made of ice, but it has a warm heart. Weight Loss Made Easy

By Tim Grimsley Weight loss does not have to be a chore, we have many options that can be enjoyable as well as healthy. There are two essential parts to a healthy body, diet and exercise. You heard it over and over until you are sick of it, believe me I know. Take a look at it from a different perspective now. Most people are satisfied with doing one or the other. This trap keeps us on a yo-yo cycle with our weight. The only effective way to break this cycle is to incorporate both. Incorporating both does not mean that you have to starve yourself and go to the gym everyday. Most adults do very little in the way of exercise. Even a little change to begin with would do you a lot of good in the long run. For example, someone who likes Golf could choose to walk the course instead of riding in a cart. The key is to choose activities that you are already doing and choose to make them geared more toward fitness. By doing this you can turn many activities that you already do into mini workouts. The diet portion of this equation has also gotten a lot easier. There are several great products now available to help you succeed in your goals to lose weight and become healthier. These products include shakes and snackbars that will help you get through the day without the feeling of being hungry and drained. One new product that has recently garnered a lot of attention is the natural weight loss supplement Hoodia Gordonii. Hoodia is an appetite suppressant. Recent studies have shown that the active ingredient in Hoodia may be the most powerful appetite suppressant ever discovered. Hoodia will definitely be a strong weapon for the battle against obesity. Selecting a Vegetable Garden Site

By Ed Rooney If you are just starting with vegetable gardening and you need to select a site for your garden this is the article for you. If you aim to feed an average sized family, you may be surprised by how little space is actually required for a decent yield. An area of about twenty five square fee should be adequate to provide for four people. Starting with too large a plot is often the first mistake made by gardeners. Regardless of the size you select, there are five basic factors to consider in deciding the garden site. The first and possible most important is available sunlight. All vegetables need some amount of sunlight - some more than others. The garden site should receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day. An ideal exposure to sunlight is between eight and ten hours daily. Most vegetables will require planting away from the shade of trees, buildings and other obstructions to direct sunlight. Some leafy cooler weather vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, and tender greens prefer shadier conditions than other vegetables, so if you have shaded areas reserve these for groing those veggies that prefer cooler spots. However, if your garden does not receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight your success at vegetable gardening is unlikely. The second basic factor to consider is garden soil. Growing a decent garden does not require perfect soil. Soil can be ammended and worked over time to bring it to peak growing conditions. For starters you can examine what you have available and add organic material to bring the soil closer to ideal. The ideal soil is a loose, well-drained loam. It should be easy to work and provide plenty of organic materials for healthy plant growth. When selecting the garden site to be certain to avoid any soil that remains soggy after a rain. Clay soils are among the hardest to work into ideal soil, and soaked roots will not make vegetables happy. The third consideration is water. Including water provided by rains and irrigation, your garden will need least 1 inch of water per week. Therefore, it is important to locate the garden near a water source if rains will not reliably deliver your need. The fourth consideration is something not many gardeners - not even seasoned greenthumbs - take into consideration. Your garden will want good air circulation. Avoid locating your garden in a hollow or low spot. Because cold air can be caught in low spots these areas are often prone to longer freezes and shorter growing seasons. Low spots are slower to warm in the spring and quicker to cool in the fall. The final consideration for siting your new vegetable garden is how near to your home it is. Keep in mind that the closer your garden the more likely you are to utilize it. The notion of a "kitchen garden" is popular because it is easy to walk out your kitchen and pull fresh produce and herbs. If you have to trek a far distance to reach the garden you are less likely to spend time keeping up with weeds, insect control, and watering. Choose Your Honeymoon In Hawaii For The Time Of Your Life

By Darlene Berkel Hawaii is known worldwide as paradise on earth and for a good reason, it truly is everything it promises and more. Choosing your honeymoon in Hawaii will ensure you start your life together with great adventures and make wonderful memories to cherish a lifetime. Any Hawaiian Destination Is A Great Pick You cannot go wrong when picking any of the Hawaiian islands as they are all exquisite and simply out of this world. If you choose to fly into Honolulu and, from there, take a cruise to the other islands, it would be the ideal way to go about your honeymoon in Hawaii as each island has something different to offer and for you to discover. Kauai, the garden island will offer you what every honeymooner wants, peace and quiet; surrounded by green pastures and pristine sceneries you can both indulge into doing nothing but enjoy each others company away from the daily hustle and bustle. Kauai also has the miniature version of the Grand Canyon of their own known as the Waimea Canyon where movies such as Jurassic Park was filmed. Maui, which is also my favorite, offers a bit of everything: the north shore if you feel adventurous and feel like getting on the surf board has the worlds best surfers crowding its waters, in downtown Maui, you have the seafront where any moment can turn into a romantic memory and its vast cultural activities offers activities for any day or evening. Booking The Right Hotel In order to have the right honeymoon in Hawaii, you will need to research and book your hotel rooms in advance because, in some of these cities such as Kauai, there is limited availability of space. The best way to find and book the right hotel is to research online and find out which one of them will suit your budget and requirements the best. There are many honeymoon specials as Hawaii is a destination highly in demand by honeymooners and it is easy to understand why. Honeymoon In Hawaii. Its The Right Beginning A honeymoon in Hawaii is the right beginning for any couple as it offers new places to discover and explore together, the peace and quiet where you can reflect on the life you are about to begin together as well as new adventures and excitement that you have never encountered before. Dutch Doctor Pioneers Remarkable Cancer Cure Based on Extracts Taken from the Human Placenta

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Alister_Bredee] Alister Bredee Dutch born M.D. William H. Van Ewijk of Autobiologics is quick to point out that cancer is not necessarily the killer it is painted out to be. Founder of the Placenta Research Foundation, until recently located in the Netherlands; he has pioneered some remarkable anti-cancer treatments based on extracts from a specific part of the human placenta. Dr. Van Ewijk [http://www.anticancerplacentatherapy.com] is of the opinion that cancer is a natural phenomenon and likens it to pregnancy. Because in pregnancy cells multiply and proliferate in much the same way as in that series of diseases we have come to call cancer. However, in the case of the latter this gestation appears at the wrong time and in the wrong place. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin or hCG, a hormone of pregnancy, is found, curiously enough at the surface of all cancer cells. As a result it has come to serve as a universal marker for this disease. The link between cancer and pregnancy is by no means new thinking and this is borne out by the older classic oncology textbooks. The connection between cancer and pregnancy was first muted by Dr. Cohnheim way back in the mid-nineteenth century. At that time it was known as the theory of embroynal rest. Dr Beard was a firm advocate of the hypothesis and it remained in medical acceptance well into the twentieth century. William Van Ewijk has taken the ideas of Russian Doctor, Victor Govallo, and developed them still further. The placenta, a word taken from Greek, is by far the most important organ of pregnancy. It is important because it provides protection and nourishment for the fetus during its stay in the womb. Being similar in constituency to the mothers white blood cells it acts as a filter for immune cells and other factors that go to bolster resistance against infection and disease. The placenta is also the site for many, many cellular factories that manufacture suppressor lymphocytes another great boon to the immune system. Dr. Van Ewijks treatment protocol involves taking a specific extract from the human placenta. Moreover, he has perfected an innovative product VG-1000. This is an immune system modifier designed to prevent and treat cancer. This non-toxic, organic product acts like a vaccine and unmasks cancerous cells as they mutate into life threatening malignancies. Inas X-rays showed cancerous signs on the liver and was diagnosed with Ardenocarcinoma in 1998. After a Liver de-tox and only 7 doses of the VG-1000 her right sided liver pain subsided and her overall feeling of weakness and malaise reduced. The following year, again following a liver de-tox, she took 2 doses of the remedy per week for 5 weeks. Since 2001 she has been taking 3-5 doses of VG-1000 per month and now lives quite normally without symptoms. She is just one of the many recorded successes Dr. Van Ewijk has had with his amazingly successful IET or Immuno Embryo Therapy treatments using extracts of the human placenta.

Getting In The Habit Of Meeting Women

By Teddy Shabba When a man complains that he has a hard time meeting women it generally means they are not in the habit of meeting women but in the habit of avoiding women. Whereas a woman who says she has a hard time meeting men generally means she doesn't get hit on a lot. Men meet women because most women don't want a man who doesn't have the balls to come up and meet her himself. Women like confidence and if you aren't even confident enough to introduce yourself, well then what good are you to a woman. Of course lots of men aren't in the habit of meeting women because the only ones that you want to meet and talk to are the ones that you like. Yet, you don't meet and talk to them since you don't have any previous history of meeting and talking with women. What makes it even harder is when someone gives you the advice of talking to her as if you were not attracted to her at all, which means for you it is not talking to her at all since you don't talk to women you aren't attracted to, but you wont admit it since that would make you appear to be more shallow than you want people to know. So the solution to your problem is quite simple in order to get in the habit of meeting women you must make a conscious effort to meet and talk to women who you don't find attractive and continue to not talk to women you find attractive. In fact you should see just how far you can push the conversation with unattractive women till you get them to give you their phone # without asking. Once you get this down I still want you to not talk to attractive women, but, instead begin pretending that women you find attractive are some of the unattractive women you talked to before and talk to her as such. Honeymoon Registry! Or Why Not Just Ask for the Money?

By Vlady Peters Lets face it, your friends know that you and your partner are an established couple and you need another hot water jug like you need a hole in the head. Why bother with a Bridal Registry or, indeed with a Honeymoon Registry, when they are fully aware that what you really need at this time is hard, cold cash. And why not be up front with it and say so. Its an undeniable fact that, apart from a few people who really hate shopping, guests like the idea of giving a couple something concrete; and enjoy having their thoughtfulness and generosity acknowledged. And money, valuable as it is, simply doesnt cut it. It has taken decades to acclimatize guests to the idea of a Bridal Registry. It may take couple more decades to make plain dollars as romantic as a traditional gift which a guest can admire before handing it over to the couple concerned. Honeymoon Registry is a sort of transitory step where a guest parts with money, but is encouraged to feel that he or she is providing the bride and groom with a gift. The gift being the Honeymoon itself. How does it work? The Honeymoon Registry is made into a concrete gift list by making the Honeymoon a categorized entity. Instead of the Honeymoon, a holiday for the bride and groom, its an airplane ticket, its two nights at the hotel, its a massage, its a candle lit supper, its a night out at the opera. In short, the Honeymoon becomes an event that has been cut up into small segments and guests can decide for which segment they are prepared to pay. As in the case of a Bridal Registry, all courtesies are observed. Each guest receives an acknowledgement and thanks for the gift theyve given. This might be automatically generated by the provider concerned. Other providers might choose to inform the couple as the gifts are purchased and it is the couple who send the thank you note. 5 Tips To Select The Best Wedding Reception Location

By Tim Smith Being disc jockeys, we get the opportunity to evaluate many reception facilities while having little or no bias to sell one location over another. Most Brides and Grooms know where they will be holding the ceremony before they decide where to have the reception, so we have compiled five observations that can help you when selecting your venue. Distance - If people have to drive a long way to get from the ceremony to the reception, some will get distracted or decide to do something else. Try to keep the reception within a 15 to 30 minute drive of your ceremony. If it is not possible to get a reception hall close to your ceremony, make a caravan. Have the Bride and Groom lead the parade, and people will follow you to your reception. Time Time is just like the distance issue. If your reception is several hours after the ceremony, people will get busy doing other things and not show up for the reception. Try to start the reception within an hour or two of the ceremony. If you dont want to start your wedding dance at 4 oclock in the afternoon, have a Meet and Greet mixer before your reception. Serve some punch and get people to mingle. This will be one of the few times that both families will be together. Encourage family members to share stories about your childhoods. Size - People like their personal space, and they have most likely spent an hour packed into a church for your ceremony. If you let them spread out, they will enjoy themselves more. Make sure your reception hall has plenty of room for your guests. The people renting the location might tell you it holds 200 people, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will hold 200 people comfortably! Make sure to visit the venue before booking. Climate Control - Having a summer wedding? Is your reception hall air conditioned? If people sweat while just sitting, they won't dance. On the flip side, if they are cold they won't dance either (who wants to dance in a parka?). Also make sure you know who has control of the thermostat so the temperature can be adjusted if needed. Chances are your reception will be warm and stuffy while all the guest are there, but as they trickle out during the night the room will begin to cool down. Smoking - This is a hot button issue, but if your reception hall is non-smoking, you can fully expect smoker's to leave your reception for 15-30 minutes every hour. If enough of them leave the reception area, you may find a large percentage of your guest just hanging out in the smoking area. This can be a big problem if you have many smokers in your wedding party. You dont have to allow smoking, but it is something you should consider, especially if anyone has any health problems like asthma or allergies that could be triggered by smoke. If you decide not to allow smoking in the reception area, how close is the nearest place for a smoker to go? Is it close enough that you will be able to get needed wedding party members during events like the bouquet toss or garter auction? Facility coordinators will no doubt bring up several other factors for you to consider when you interview them for your booking, but these are often missed items, especially if they dont favor the potential venue. If you keep the overall picture in mind and work with your wedding planner or event coordinator on the decorating ideas, you will no doubt have an enjoyable and memorable wedding reception. Pierced Ear Problems and Solutions

By Sam Serio The practice of ear piercing dates back to thousands of years ago. From jungle tribes to desert nomads to royalty, pierced ears were indicators of both beauty and social standing. Ear piercing is just as popular today, with both men and women having one or both earlobes pierced. Certain preventive and maintenance procedures need to be observed in order to avoid and treat pierced ear problems either on the lobe or on the cartilage. A sizable percentage of individuals experience minor problems in the period following piercing. Youve heard the saying cleanliness is next to godliness. Here, it is suitable to say cleanliness is key to avoiding pierced ear problems. Its important for the person performing the piercing to operate in clean surroundings, use sterile equipment and employ a sanitary piercing technique. Ideally, piercing should be done in a clinical setting, but many jewelry stores in malls offer the service and this is acceptable only if the conditions are sanitary and the staff knowledgeable so that the risk of pierced ear problems is minimized. Another problem arising from ear piercing is an allergic reaction to the metal from which the earring is made, especially nickel. The studs to be used should be hypoallergenic and totally nickel-free; ideally, stainless, surgical steel or 14-karat gold should be used for first piercings. However, remember that even 14-karat gold can contain nickel and may cause irritation in some people. Using surgical steel is still the safest bet to avoid pierced ear problems of this type. Redness and inflammation, two other common pierced ear problems, can be prevented or treated if proper hygiene is practiced. After the prescribed healing time, the earrings should be removed and the holes washed with soap and water daily. Additionally, the holes should be cleaned with rubbing alcohol, and an antibacterial ointment may also be applied to the holes before the earrings are reinserted in order to prevent infection. If infection does occur, a physician may prescribe antibiotics to treat the problem. Pierced ears are always fashionable, and the process is almost always safe, quick and convenient. It isnt at all difficult to care for newly pierced ears. However, it never hurts to be extra cautious and err on the side of caution rather than experience painful and inconvenient pierced ear problems. The Garden Beckons

By Bonnie Moss The crocus is almost ready to peek through the
partly snow- covered ground. It wont be long now
and the earth will bring out a burst of colors to
herald the beauty of Spring as Nature wakes up
from its winter slumber. Its that time of the year when gardeners can
hardly wait for the snow to disappear from the
ground. The balmy weather these past few days
started to melt some of the snow revealing the
brown color of the grass. It is not too early to start thinking of your
garden.Take a look at the pictures of your garden
of last summer. You did take pictures! Think of what you liked about your garden.
What new projects do you have in mind?
Each year, there are wider varieties of plants
to choose from. It is very tempting! Color The colors bursting from the garden is one of
the most attractive features. Be inspired to try
a different mix of colors. This can easily be done by
looking at the pictures and do a little re-arranging
of your plants. I know I have to move the sundrops and the
iris and some of the day lilies this Spring. These
plants tend to take over the garden. Id like to
have more blue color this year. This is a relaxing
color. Think of the plants that have to be thinned out,
or perhaps were in the wrong spot last summer.
Experiment with different varieties of plants
for an exciting display of colors in your garden. Soil Is it time to amend your soil? Plants will do better
with proper soil nutrients. Compost is a very rich
source of nutrients and it is also good for the
environment. Do you need to check the acidity or alkalinity
of the soil? There are commercial kits, but I
find them too expensive. There are tests that
you can do to check it yourself. Check out
gardening books and the internet. Be sure to
pay attention to your window boxes and other
pots and planters. It is recommended that
the soil in these containers be changed at least
every five years. Design Do you have a theme or motif in your garden?
Something that is a centerpiece of all the
centerpieces. This is whats creative about
gardening. It allows you to express yourself
and enhance your creativity. This is where you incorporate features like
garden ornaments. But dont make your garden
too busy. Do you have a bench or chair where
you can sit and relax, or rest as you work in
the garden? Do you like the sound of wind chimes? There are endless ideas to enhance the beauty
of your garden and turn it to a work of art and a
place for you to relax and meditate. Budget How lucky for those who do not have to worry
about dollars and cents. Gardening can be an
expensive hobby. You can start saving a bit for
your gardening expenses now. Think outside the
pot, to quote Martha Stewart. You can use your
imagination and come out with containers that
will blow the mind of your family and friends. Garden ornaments can be costly. I found some
good and tasteful ornaments at the dollar shops
and at garage sales. Pesky animals Be prepared. If a deer has discovered your
garden, chances are it will be back every year.
There are plants that are resistant to most animals.
I know that geraniums and marigolds are safe.
Roses attract the deer. There are ways and means to protect your garden
from these destructive intruders without causing them
harm. You might consider plants that repel these
animals. I gave up planting tulips. The chipmunks love them.
There are other Spring bulbs that repel these
creatures. Daffodils and other members of the alium
family are just as colorful and lovely to look at. Take time to explore the possibilities and experiment.
Happy gardening. Bonnie Moss writes to inspire and to motivate
her readers to explore the depths of their heart and
soul. She draws from personal experience and her interest in the New Age

Breakfast -How Not To Start The Day Part I

By John Mericle M.D. Axiom Number Four To have a great selling diet plan encourage people to do what they want to do anyway, even if they won't lose weight and may become morbidly obese, get cancer and have a very poor quality of life. Question from one of our readers ... Just read your letter "Energy That Is Stored -Must Be Utilized" Won't fasting slow your metabolic rate? Doesn't your body think you're starving when you fast and slow down to conserve energy? If not, why are so many of the latest diets centered around several small meals a day instead of 3 square meals? Unknown reader since they did not leave their email address. A very important question however! Just this week in my email I got another article about eating as many as eight meals a day as a way to become thin, in shape and lose weight. Concept one from this article ... Fasting causes your body to "think" that it is starving which makes your body store fat and slows your metabolism. Fasting in no way forces the body to "store fat."
To begin we need to clarify that the body "does not think anything." It is a series of biochemical reactions, much the same as the brain is, although the brain is rumored to "think" in some cases. At this junction I am going to discuss some "elementary biochemistry" with an occasional quote from Stryer's Fourth Edition Biochemistry. I will leave the math to you -the reader. fuel reserves in a typical 70-kg man Organ ************** Available energy (kcal)
************ glucose/glycogen ***** fat ****** protein
blood *********** 60 ************** 45 ******* 0
liver *********** 400 ************* 450 ****** 400
brain *********** 8 *************** 0 ******** 0
muscle ********** 1200 ************ 450 ****** 24000
adipose(fat) **** 80 ************** 135,000 ** 40 from Stryer Biochemistry 4th Edition page 771 check out that 135,000 kcal from fat ... without even a "camel's hump" The biochemistry of starvation "A typical well-nourished 70-kg man has fuel reserves of some 1600 kcal in glycogen, 24,000 kcal in mobilizable protein and 135,000 kcal in triacylglycerols. (see above table) The energy need for a 24-hour period ranges from about 1600 kcal in the basal state to 6000 kcal, depending on the extent of activity. Thus, stored fuels suffice to meet caloric needs in starvation for one to three months." page 775,776 Stryer Biochemistry. The body does not begin to "starve" in the first 24 hours As is apparent from the above quote, the body does not even start to "starve" for the first 24 hours since the metabolic needs of the body (especially the brain) can be easily met by the stored fuels. Not eating breakfast, eating your main meal at noon and then skipping dinner -is not starvation, either for you or your body. Glucagon Glucagon levels rise only when insulin levels drop. It takes at least two to three hours for the insulin levels to drop sufficiently for the glucagon levels to rise. Six meals a day plus snacks does not equal "flat abs and sexy muscles." It equals morbid obesity and hyperinsulinism and all the associated lifestyle diseases. What glucagon does Glucagon is secreted by the alpha cells of the pancreas in response to a "low" blood sugar in the fasting state. It inhibits glycogen synthesis and fatty acid synthesis, just the opposite of insulin which stimulates glycogen synthesis and fatty acid synthesis. In case you don't understand what this means, it means that you are utilizing / burning fat, with high glucagon (fasting state) levels and you are storing energy (as fat) with high insulin levels (fed) state. Epinephrine and Nor-Epinephrine (Adrenaline) High levels of glucagon (fasting state) stimulate increased secretion of adrenalin (epinephrine and nor-epinephrine). Adrenalin in turn mobilizes fatty acids and glycogen. The main difference between glucagon and adrenalin is that the effect of adrenalin is more pronounced in muscle than the liver, where the effect of glucagon is more prominent. Epinephrine also inhibits use of glucose by muscles and facilitates the use of fatty acids by muscle. Thus the old adage about having to burn fat in the marathon. Most people can store enough energy from non-fat sources for about 20 miles, but then you have to switch to fat burning to get through the last six. This is where if you have not trained your metabolism to burn fat (trained in the fasting state), you will not be able to run well. The metabolic pathways will not be there. Three more "multiple small feedings" concepts ... Eating too much food results in high insulin levels which in turn causes a low blood sugar which in turn forces the body to store fat. A little truth here -overeating does produce high insulin levels. Anyone here feel that seven meals a day is not overeating, I can't help you. High insulin levels create low blood sugar only when the food ingested is partial, processed and usually containing sugar. Eating whole foods has yet to produce low blood sugar in anyone. Low blood sugar forces the body to store fat -not according to any human biochemistry I've ever read. As discussed above, low blood sugar stimulates glucagon secretion which in turn mobilizes fat / burns fat /utilizes fat! Concept ... Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Sorry, but the "myth" of breakfast is just that -a myth. The only thing I can say for sure about breakfast is that you will never be able to burn fat, if you eat breakfast every day. You are virtually guaranteed of NEVER entering a glucagon state. You will end up with fuel storage tanks all over your body and no way to ever get the energy from the tank to your body since you have never established the metabolic pathways to do so. Concept ... After breakfast you can start eating the remaining six or seven meals for the day followed by a bedtime snack. When you get done concentrating on the other 6-7 meals for the day, then you can figure out which doctor you are going to see for your obesity, hypertension and cancer. My ex-father-in-law was really excited about the Zone diet because it allowed him to eat as much meat as he wanted. Adapted over hundred thousands of years and thereby setting the standards for living normally and healthily, they bequeathed their genes to us. The Roar of the Lamb - Why Christians Should Hold a Balanced View of God

By Lee Wilson One thing I've noticed in working with churches around the country is that many Christians have an unbalanced view of God. In today's culture of tolerance, many have assumed God is just as tolerant and unbothered by sinful behavior as is politically correct at the moment. We've presented a picture of God as being full of grace, love and peace--and that's correct, but what about the "Lion" part of God? He is, afterall, the "Lion" (Revelation 5:5) and the "Lamb" (Revelation 5:12). Would some among our Christian community have such a sense of entitlement to God and everyone else if we dusted off some of the other pages in our Bibles that tell of an almighty, powerful, even dangerous God? Solomon said, "This is the end of the matter. All has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man" (Ecclesiastes 12:13). "Fear God" is certainly not a popular command now days. It sounds too offensive, archaic and unenlightened for many of our pulpits. But Solomon said it was part of our "duty" as human beings. Matthew 10:28 says, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew is quoting Jesus in this passage and note that He (Jesus) tells us to "be afraid" of God. The worst villain in a horror movie can't send anyone to hell, but God can. A healthy dose of fear helps put things in perspective and Jesus advised us to remember who we are to really fear. I wish I could be poetic and use pretty words to say that the fear we should have for God is not the kind of fear we see displayed in movies like Jason and Freddie Kruger. But my definition is fairly similar. As the Bible says, "It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God" (Hebrews 10:31). God has the power to destroy me, and I deserve it. Even if I didn't deserve it, there is no earthly court or lawyer to defend me--I am absolutely helpless and powerless. That fact about God will never disappear. Even with His breathtaking love, mercy and grace, He is still the God who decided He would kill Abraham in the night, but changed His mind because of Sarah's pleading. He is the God who flooded the earth in order to kill every human except for one family. When I was in college, it was very trendy for Theology majors to write about the grace and love of God. They often wrote short articles that seemed to be love letters. There's certainly nothing wrong with that and I think it is a great thing to do. But respect for entering into God's presence seemed to be diluted as people started viewing God as a grandfatherly figure so desperate for our time and attention that He overlooked our sins. Don't misunderstand--I stand in awe of the love of God and can't put into words the love I have for Him. But I am also afraid of Him because His power is so much beyond any monster or super hero I could possibly imagine. So when temptation parades itself in front of me, I have an easier time turning it away because I fear God. There are other reasons including the fact that I love God and don't want to hurt Him by my actions. But I also fear Him because I know that He holds the right to my next breath. Perhaps that's what Jesus meant when He said, "..be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." The difference between my fear of God and the fear shown in horror movies is that God is not hunting me down. He's not chasing me to kill me. His love propelled Him to die for me and He wants a relationship with me, but His power is far beyond Freddie or Jason and for that, I fear Him. But I love Him as well. He is the ultimate being in all of existence and I am a peanut shell under His mighty foot. That fact isn't exactly poetic or pretty, but it's reality and accepting that helps me serve Him better. I love Him, but I fear Him too. I constantly struggle for balance and I think we should all strive to view God as He is entirely without removing the parts we don't like. ============================================================

Five Little Known Secrets of How to Seduce a Woman

By Bryan Evans To the uneducated, the process of seducing a woman can seem intimidating, if not downright terrifying. Fortunately, with the use of a few basic pieces of knowledge any man can put this fear aside and successfully attract any woman he desires. These are five little known secrets to turn a woman to putty in your hands. First, make sure you set aside time each day to show her you are thinking of her. With the rushed lifestyle of many lead today, it is very easy for a couple to have difficulty finding time to be together. While chances are good that you will not be able to spend time together in person every day, a phone call or an e-mail to let her know you are thinking about her can go a long way. Remember, calling her when you have five minutes on your lunch break to say hello will be infinitly more precious to her than spending hours at the symphony. Buy her small gifts on a regular basis. While diamond necklaces for an anniversary are nice, a batch of wildflowers picked from the side of the road will be just as attractive, and show a spontaneity to your nature when it comes to pleasing her. Gifts related to her interests and needs will go even farther to attract her; many are the woman who have found their hearts plopping on the floor to the man who brought them a puppy, or a book they have been searching for but unable to find. A gift that she didnt even know she wanted shows you are attentive to her desires, and always thinking about her. When you are together, touch her often in a non-sexual way. Most women are very physical, sensual creatures, and simply being held can be very seductive. It causes her to associate your touch with pleasure, an essential step in furthering a physical relationship. Massaging the back and feet are an excellent form of physical contact; however, a simple hug, wrapping your arms around her while you walk or sit or holding her hand are equally important. If you can, speak to her in another language. It has long been noted that women are attracted to foreign men, and a large reason for this is the mystery involved. A man speaking in another language offers promises of foreign lands and new experiences; however, be very careful that you know what youre saying, particularly if she understands the language as well. No woman is going to be seduced by accidentally being called a fat pig in the heat of the moment! Finally, show her that you have passion for her. As women are attracted to a strong man, they also love to know that they can make a strong man tremble with desire for them. Be sure that your kisses relay meaning and passion. Engage in romantic trysts at all hours of the day, in various locations (there is a reason that office relations are so widely spoken of!). A hint of the forbidden can make it even more exciting, and shows her you can desire her to the point of being out of control. A true master of seduction knows how to make a woman feel like a goddess in her own skin, and he does this by learning what a woman truly wants. By conquering the secrets of seduction, any man can become a master. Mr. Irresistible is the author of the best selling report "Seduction Secrets". Discover the secrets to seducing beautiful women anywhere and anytime!

Education Loans: Equal Opportunity with Unequal Costs

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ana_Lopez]Ana Lopez Higher education in a land of equal opportunity is a dream for most students. Providing education to their children is what most parents strive to do. Ample job opportunities exist but these go only to the educated. Getting educated can prove costly and only push you further into debt. This is the reality of the education scenario in the states and in many parts of the world. Education is becoming costly due to increasing specializations, cost of laboratory and other equipment. Government is decreasing the subsidies and offering a solution: easier loan facility. The result is student debt trap. The US department of education loans provides the much needed succor to families that aspire to educate their children. Private education loans compete with many governmental packages. Loans seem to be the recourse of many parents and students for undergraduate and graduate studies. Under US law it is the parents primary responsibility to fund the education of the children till the age of 24. Easier loans are offered by the U.S. Department of Education's Direct Loan Program. The Department of education provides funds for Stafford loans (for students) and PLUS loans (for parents). The Federal Family Education Loan program involves educational loans by Banks and private education loans as well. In addition to these loans for education other private loans are taken to provide for other needs; that increases the debt trap. Only those with money can afford studies and this is the lesson that families and students are learning. One in every five graduates has to change career plans due to student debt. The wages for students who work part time and pay for their education has also decreased. After borrowing money to pay off the education students realize that the entry level salaries of graduates are too low to pay off the loans. The interest spirals and thus students end up paying twice or thrice the loan amount. Many cannot pay and land up in debt. A dream of upward mobility and of being in the elite of society has earned a student a life of debt and expenses to be paid to lenders. Tips to avoid the debt trap Look carefully at various financial options and take education student loans only from government or related agencies at lower rates of interest. Students should try to use the university accommodation or cheaper places of rent. Shop in bulk along with friends. You could avail various free offers that would not be possible if you were to shop for yourself. Make use of your student unions to obtain one-off offers and claim discount using your NUS or ISIC cards. Buy second hand books or borrow them from your seniors. Do not rush and buy new ones. Use the library if you cannot afford to buy books. The internet is also a vast resource for information. If you are working to pay of expenses or loans as student- Fill tax rebate forms that could earn you a rebate on your earnings. Plan your budget and stick to it. Record all your expenses and verify them when your bank statement arrives. If you find yourself still in soup. Get advice from a student advisor at the earliest. Do not get excited about college life and freedom. Prudence is better than landing up in a massive debt in the first semester itself. Student credit cards and other credit institutions target freshers. Be wary of them! Availing education loans may empower you in education. A little care and watchfulness on the financial front will empower your financial management ability. eduloaninfo.com is site that provides information on various education loans. Special education, continuing education and consolidation of education may require a variety of loans. Writing the Best Dating Profile

By Janet Reiss Online dating has taken dating to a whole new level. There is instant access to people and profiles, photos and videos, and their ideas, beliefs and opinions. People are less inhibited when they are online. You can really find out so much about a person from their initial profile. You will know right away if this is someone of interest to you. That's what makes online dating the tool to instant gratification. No more blind dates. No more wasted time. You can be selective in your choices. There are so many people looking for love, relationships and commitment. Is there someone out there looking for you? Honesty is the most important item when considering writing your profile. This is the first impression. You dont want it to be the last impression. Lying about your age, sex, preferences, demographics (height, body type, religion, etc) is a big mistake. Would you want to date someone who is not honest from the start? Check your spelling? Not everyone majored in English, but try to find the right words helps. Again, this is a first impression. We all make mistakes, but take pride in your profile. Keep your profile neat and clean. Selling sex is not the way to a persons heart. If you choose to show your naked body to others than at least pick a site that promotes nudity and sex. The casual dating sites frown on nude photos and videos. Use discretion. You are more than your photo anyway. Choose a photo that is clear, not blurry. Show your best side. Publish more than one photo and promote your interests through your photos. Tell enough about yourself to attract interest, but leave some out to allow for mystery. Others will either find you interesting and attractive or not. Please dont include personal, financial, or identifying information in your profile (i.e. bank account info, phone numbers, personal emails, address, etc.) Have fun with your profile. Be real and be honest, but most of all have fun. Writing a profile when you are in a good mood is the best time. Would you want to meet a person whose profile is full of drudgery and depression? Your personality will shine through when the mood is right. Online dating doesnt have to be a job. It can be fun and exciting. So where do you go from here. Take the tips and try to create a profile that is attractive, concise, and honest. Have fun with it and when you see it published be proud of who you are promotingyou! Janet J. Reiss, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York.
