Gift Giving Made (A Little) Easier

By Suzanne Davidson So, you dread the thought of having to buy gifts for Christmas. Friend or family member has a birthday or anniversary coming up, and you still dont have a gift? Well, weve all been there and done that. None of us want to do it again. Yet we always seem to be in the same sorry spot each year. As Mark Twain said: Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow. That may be great advice for yard work, but its terrible advice for gift giving. Waiting too late to buy gifts can cause several problems, including stress, choosing less than stellar gifts and experiencing holiday shopping misery. Lets look at several ways to avoid those problems. 1: Start thinking of gift giving as a regular part of your day-to-day life. Dont think of it as a rare, necessary evil. You need to adopt a new mindset: one that tells you that any day could be a great day to find that perfect gift for family or friend. Once you get in that frame of mind, there are several things you should do to make gift giving fun for you and great for the recipient: 2: Make a list of the people you exchange gifts with and a calendar of the dates you expect to give them gifts. When you receive an invitation to a wedding or party, mark that date on your gift calendar. This will help you get organized, which is usually the first step in any worthwhile endeavor. 3: Keep that list in a handy, convenient place in your home or carry it with you. That way you can easily access it when you need it. 4: Have an idea? Its funny how youll get one right after holidays, birthdays or other gift-giving occasions. Of course, by this time you have spent quite a bit of time thinking about your gift(s). When you have an idea, write it down on the handy list mentioned above, so youll be one step ahead of the game next year! 5: Listen year-round for that friend or family member to say or do something that tips you off to the perfect gift! When you pick up on it, youll have a place to write it down. This will help you buy that just-right gift and prevent gift panic, or worse, the dreaded Christmas rush. 6: Buy the great gift you just wrote down! There is absolutely no reason to wait to buy a gift for any occasion if you have an inspirational (or just good) idea, unless you think it may later go on sale. Otherwise, buy that gift as soon as you can! To make gift buying even easier, buy your gifts online and have them shipped to you. In many cases you can even have them wrapped for you by the merchant. 7: Buy a generous gift WITHIN YOUR BUDGET! Two things you want to avoid, in decreasing order of importance: being seen as a cheapskate (or worse, having no gift); or going overboard on a gift, which usually means spending more than you can afford and probably making the recipient uncomfortable. Its also easy to spend too much on someone (like your spouse or kids) and then find that you have little or nothing for other important people in your life (like your parents, siblings or friends). So set a budget for your gift buying and stick with it. 8: Once youve purchased your gift(s), you need to have a place to put it (or them). So, make room in your house, apartment, condo or whatever, and create a gift closet. Keep it stocked with the great gifts that you wrote down on your handy gift list and then purchased (within your budget). Presto! You will suddenly rise to the occasion with a great gift, or an armful of great gifts, and you and your recipient(s) will be much happier for it. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift. That's why we call it the present. ~ Babatunde Olatunji Suzanne Davidson works in Marketing, Event Planning and Community Relations. Food - Breads

By Michael Russell If you sit down and really think about it, there are more kinds of breads than you can possibly imagine. While we're certainly not going to try to cover every single variety and brand, we will touch on a few of the more common ones. While nutritionists will claim that it's probably the most worthless thing you can put in your mouth because of the refined white flour, white bread is probably the best selling bread in the United States anyway. The brands of white bread are numerous to say the least. You've got your Arnold, Wonder, Pepridge Farm and a slew of others, not to mention all the bargain basement store brands. But white bread isn't just white bread anymore. You've got your thin sliced, you diet white, your enriched white and so on. No two white breads even taste anything alike. When you think about it, that's not a bad little trick, even if they all do have the nutritional value of a tree stump. So thank goodness we have whole wheat bread to the rescue. While most commercial whole wheat breads probably still have too much sugar in them, they're still a step up from white, especially in the fiber department. White breads have almost no fiber at all while whole wheat breads have anywhere from 2 to 3 grams of fiber per slice. So if nothing else, whole wheat breads, not to be confused with whole grain or multi grain breads, are great for keeping you regular. Most of the white bread companies also make whole wheat, but your better whole wheat breads are the off brands. Then of course you have your rye breads. Rye bread is something that you just have to have with corned beef. There's nothing like a corned beef sandwich with a little mustard on a good Jewish rye bread. Most of the better rye breads come with caraway seeds, which are pretty much an acquired taste, but there are those that come without seeds. Probably the most popular rye bread is Beefsteak Rye. Think we've covered it all? We haven't even scratched the surface of the bread army. There's rye's fancy cousin, the pumpernickel bread. This bread is probably one of the heartiest and tastiest breads you will ever want to eat. These breads are very high on fiber and can be a meal in themselves. Then of course you've got bread's cousins. These are your rolls, bagels, croissants and the like. Each one of these has their special purpose. For example, rolls, which come in a zillion varieties alone, are great for sandwiches where you want to really pile up on the lettuce and other condiments. Bagels are great for cream cheese and other spreadables and croissants are good all by themselves or with a little butter or jam. And still, we've just scratched the surface. Yes, there are more kinds of breads for more kinds of occasions than you can possibly imagine. Of course that doesn't mean that you can't slap a couple of meatballs between two slices of rye bread. Who knows? It might actually be good. Michael Russell

Head 'em Up and Move 'em Out!

By Daniel Wadleigh One of the most effective ways to influence potential customers is by using what I call the "irrefutable argument." One of the goals of any promotion is to generate the response, "I'd be nuts not to do this," without actually spelling it out directly. One way to stimulate this response is by describing the consequences of not doing what you have offered as totally unacceptable to any rational being. You are basically: 1) "educating" them to all rational choices and their consequences; and 2) you are rubbing their noses in the situation. By that, I mean that you are confronting them with the choices and gently forcing them to choose. In particular, if you have a product/service that they really know they should act on but have resisted actually taking the step, you are best served by giving them a clear and comprehensive view of all options and their advantages and disadvantages. This forces them to think about it, and makes it more difficult to rationalize not doing what they know they should. Example: Everybody wants a great view, but, you only have four choices - 1. You can leave the curtains open (and endure the glare, overheating and carpet fading) 2. You can close the curtains and only open them occasionally (and have "cave effect", with only occasional glare, overheating and carpet fading) 3. You can plant trees and wait for them to grow up to 20 feet in height. OR, 4. You can put solar shade on the outside of the windows, still get a great view, reduce solar glare, heat and fading by over 70%! When people are confronted with the choices, and, when one choice is superior to the point of "I'd be nuts not to do this", you will get more response than, 'We offer solar shade, and it's great stuff." The number of responses is directly proportional to the level of un-acceptability of the consequences of not making the choice. There is a common phrase, "Great marketing will make a disturbance," and this is why it's great! Along with creating a desire to act, it is also smart to encourage them to choose you. The goal for this response is the same as before, "I'd be nuts not to buy from this guy." If you don't, you will be generating lots of business for your competitor, and he is sure to appreciate the free advertising! Remember that you must elevate yourself high enough above the competition to get them mad. You need to "head'em up and move'em out" to your business, not the other guys. First, you sell Chrysler, then you sell Jones Chrysler. Educating them to the unacceptable consequences of the other choices is paramount to maximizing stimulus-response. The Best Anti Wrinkle Face Creams - Do They Really Fight Wrinkles?

By Max Suther Wrinkles may look adorable on a shar-pei or bulldog, but on humans its another story. Many people are troubled by the wrinkling skin that becomes common as you age. Lets face it unless you are blessed with amazing genes, you will most likely end up with at least a wrinkle or two in your older years. Have you ever wondered what causes wrinkles? With time, skin from your entire body becomes drier and ages, particularly your face, neck, back of your hands and tops of your forearms. Areas of skin that have been exposed to sun experience an even more rapid abundance of wrinkles. The wrinkles may appear as fine lines such as the ones that appear in the corner of your eyes or deeper furrows that often form on your forehead. This is a completely natural process that occurs in most humans across the planet. Some companies like Hydroderm are making great strides in fighting wrinkles. Hydroderm scientists have created new ways to deliver collagen deep into the skin. Collagen is essential for healthy skin and as we age we start to lose more and more thus causing wrinkles. Using scientific know-how they have developed one of the best anti wrinkle face creams on the market. However, certain factor exist that may increase your tendency to develop wrinkles. We can control some of these influences such as deciding to quit smoking which often results in increased wrinkles, especially in the upper and lower lips or near the eyes, cheeks and lower jaw. In fact this wrinkling is sometimes referred to as smokers face. Easy decisions such as choosing a hairstyle that provides more protection from the sun or wearing more protective clothing in the summer may also reduce wrinkling. Unfortunately, wrinkling can also be caused by factors that are beyond our control. For example, heredity plays a large role in the amount of wrinkling you will experience as you grow older. A very small percentage of people are lucky enough to be born with great skin that with little or no wrinkles. Certain hair and skin combinations are also prone to increased wrinkling. Light skinned people, especially those with blue eyes, are more prone to sunburns and sun damage. As a result, they normally have skin that is more wrinkled than darker skinned individuals. As you can see, wrinkles are a normal part of life. Even if you are blessed with great genes, you can make certain decisions such as quitting smoking or limiting your exposure to the sun. All of these changes will reduce the amount of wrinkling you will experience in your later years. However, if your family history includes a long line of wrinklers, dont focus on the negative. Instead, consider these lines as a sign of the wisdom that often comes with age. An Introduction to Acid Reflux Disease

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Seth_Miller] Seth Miller Acid reflux disease, also known as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease or GERD, afflicts millions of people. Many suffer from an occasional bout with heartburn, but acid reflux disease, as a diagnosis, should only be made if the heartburn causes impediments to your lifestyle due to severe, chronic discomfort over prolonged periods of time. Usually, if you suffer from heartburn 2 or more times per week for at least 12 weeks, theres a good chance that your diagnosis would be GERD. Unfortunately, no one knows exactly what causes acid reflux disease, but there is an ample amount of information available at your doctors office and on the Internet. The good news is that acid reflux disease is a highly manageable condition, though it can lead to potentially serious, chronic conditions. Many avenues are available with regard to treatment options. The most common options recommended include lifestyle changes, medical treatments, stress management, and/or a combination of all strategies. What is Acid Reflux Disease?
Acid reflux disease is a chronic condition in which stomach acid washes back up onto the esophagus, causing severe discomfort. Stomach acid burns the esophagus lining due to a relaxed lower esophageal sphincter (LES). The LES acts as a valve between your stomach and the esophagus. The valve is designed to open and allow food into the stomach, and then close, protecting the esophagus from acids. However, if the LES is not closing properly, acid rushes or refluxes upward, coating the esophagus, and causes a burning sensation. Remember that its normal to suffer from acid reflux (heartburn) every once and awhile. Its only acid reflux disease when its a chronic condition, happening frequently and for long periods of time. If you are unsure, dont hesitate to see your doctor. One more thing to keep in mind is that heartburn has nothing to do with your heart. It just feels that way at times because the esophagus is located behind the heart. Carnivorous Plants

By Ross Bainbridge Animals are attracted to carnivorous plants. These plants capture and kill the animals and suck the nutrients from them. There are even some non-carnivorous plants that may exhibit some of the qualities of the carnivorous group. However, they do not qualify as carnivorous plants if any of the stages, such as attracting the animal life form, capturing and killing it, and then digesting and absorbing their vital nutrients, are missing. In appearance, carnivorous plants are similar to all other plants. Carnivorous plants are found on all continents, except Antarctica. They require a different care regime depending on the category they belong to. Most carnivorous plants require plenty of sunlight, as inadequate sunlight may hamper the growth of the carnivorous plants. Some plants such as Butterworts, Asian Pitcher Plants, and a few species of Sundews grow well in bright indirect light. Many plant growers, who are unable to provide the required amount of sunlight, can use 20 to 40-watt fluorescent light tubes to enhance growth. Fluorescent compact bulbs, which are equivalent to 100 watts, can also be used as an alternative. This light source is to be placed approximately 6 to 8 inches above the plant. To achieve best results, the light source should be kept on for 12 to14 hours in a day. It is advisable to avoid the use of incandescent bulbs for this purpose, as they emit excessive heat and the wrong type of light. Almost all carnivorous plants grow in bogs that are never dry. This necessitates the cultivation of such plants in adequately wet soil. Generally, all carnivorous plants are temperate plants, which means that they are dormant during the winter season and are vibrant during the spring and summer. When domestically cultivating these plants, it is important to repot the plants in a suitable pot before the end of the dormancy period. This provides them fresh soil and more space for growth, which enhance growth. Dead leaves can be removed in the springtime to avoid fungal infections. Fertilizers must be avoided while growing carnivorous plants, as they will burn and destroy the roots. Plants provides detailed information on Plants, House Plants, Tropical Plants, Garden Plants and more. Plants is affiliated with Flower Seed. Vatican Linked to the Assassination of Yitzhak Rabin

By David Ben-Ariel The dark powers of the European Union, under evil influence of the very real German-Jesuit cabal, are intent on ripping out the heart of Israel and sacrificing Israeli sovereignty to their wannabe divine emperor about to take the world by storm, pimped by the sorcerer-pope. The German-dominated EU have set their evil eye upon Jerusalem and prepare to go for the kill with the call for UN Resolution 181 - the blueprint of THE BEAST - to be enforced, all under guise of promoting world peace while whetting their nuclear sword for World War, ignited by the foolish Muslims whose imminent jihad against Europe will result in their rapid response: a NEW CRUSADE. The Vatican is tightening its noose around the neck of Israel and its diabolical desire for Jerusalem plans on being fulfilled by implementing THE GRAND DESIGN: the final revival of the unholy Roman Empire of the German Nation, the restoration of the Crusader-Kingdom, with Jerusalem as its crown and the Temple Mount (with its imminent Temple) as the crown jewel. Truth is stranger than fiction and to fail to appreciate or even begin to understand the cultic pull, the demonic drive, key players (with their foreign interests and alien ideas) feel and exert to possess Jerusalem and occupy Israel is to doom the Jewish homeland to getting stomped by the EU jackboot and conquered in the satanic sign of their cross. As Israeli investigative reporter Joel Bainerman has exposed within The Vatican Agenda, this pagan plot to subdue Israel and control Jerusalem is very real and important and serious to the criminal minds that spawned the Luciferian Oslo "peace process" (which has been nothing less than the systematic dismantling of the Jewish homeland and imminent destruction of many of its Jews, whether oblivious Israelis grasp or believe it or not). Joel Bainerman charges the lying "peace process" has been nothing but a smokescreen, a red herring, while the Vatican is intent, based upon their Babylonian Mystery religious beliefs masquerading as Christian, to feverishly work underground, undermining Israeli will and sovereignty, bringing both to a state of collapse, inviting foreign invasion under the guise of "peacekeeping" troops. Yitzhak Rabin was the biggest diversionary tactic these murderers in our midst have pulled off: the Israeli Left, ignobly represented by the likes of Shimon Peres, conspired with their European masters to sacrifice Rabin to become their martyr and ritually abuse his blood to further their agenda against those faithful Jews and patriots who won't just go like sheep to the slaughter, or at least not as easily as the others who have been duped into believing the BIG LIE of "Land for Peace." Israel has given plenty of land and yet still has no peace, and yet continues blindly toward the abyss with such a failed formula and miserable "Roadmap" to hell! Where is Israel's rosh Yehudi? (Jewish head). Where is the nephesh Yehudi? (Jewish soul). Barry Chamish and David Rutstein, two Israelis, both publicly charge Shimon Peres with the murder of Yitzhak Rabin and haven't been sued! They courageously testify before the Israeli people that something isn't kosher. They offer plenty of evidence that Shimon Peres came to power over Yitzhak Rabin's dead body. Messrs. Chamish and Rutstein decry that Rabin's real killers are still at large and that Rabin's real killers are still selling out Israel to foreigners, gorging themselves with blood money and fattening themselves for the slaughter they fail to believe will include them, as it most certainly will, as history warns every kapo discovered to his horror. I'm convinced that the same vultures that circled Yitzhak Rabin, that saw to his violent death, who have brutally betrayed Prime Minister Rabin and sold out the nation, are heavily bribed, bought and paid for prostitutes, involved in illicit foreign affairs with their European counterparts and Vatican cronies. Such scandals must be brought to light (that would rock the nation and shake the world), if such stooges are to be stopped dead in their tracks, their treason exposed and their ticking time-bomb defused! Otherwise, they will carry out their instructions until the bitter end of the Third Jewish Commonwealth; instrumental in the premeditated murder of Israeli sovereignty, enslavement of the Jewish people and rape of Jerusalem. Israel must reopen the Yitzhak Rabin File (which will bring all this out into the open) or they will have sealed their own fate and written it in Rabin's blood that still cries out for justice. David Ben-Ariel is a Christian-Zionist writer and author of Beyond Babylon: Europe's Rise and Fall. With a focus on the Middle East and Jerusalem, his analytical articles help others improve their understanding of that troubled region. Check out the Beyond Babylon blog. LG Prada- A League of its Own

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Alice_Erin]Alice Erin In a time when having an 'in' thing is utmost important, there are no death of fads and flashes in fry-pans. Fashion, being always prone to change as fast as weather in English winters if not faster. In confusing times like these, the LG Prada a fashion phone unique in its own way comes in rescue to settle any doubts about buying which fashion phone that most importantly 'remains' in fashion for a long time. The LG Prada or a more 'refined' Prada phone by LG as it is known, resembles a fashion conscious lot's collective dream. A dream mobile phone that has a great bundle of features in a case that looks like million dollars. Taking into account the high importance of the brand name, the LG Prada or the LG phone from Prada, has opted its manufacturer's name for Prada a brand name that represents the 'cream'. The LG Prada is easily identifiable by its enormous display. The handset designer's decision to do away with keypads altogether made way for a sleek capacitive touch screen that delivers more than 256k accurate and vibrant colours. The 3 inch display remains hidden within black surface of the LG Prada. 'More is less' when it comes to style, and the Prada phone by LG validate this. Elegant simplicity of the LG Prada is what separates the class from the mass. High fashion has in no way affected the functionality of the LG Prada . The triband handset is also a mobile internet wizard thanks to its built in GPRS and EDGE technology. The handset's on board camera module is 2.0 megapixel with zoom flash and DVD quality video recording abilities. Bonsai - The Miniature Work Of Art

By Tim Gorman In ancient times, it was venerable Japanese artisans who named their unique artwork "Bonsai", meaning "a Tree In A Tray". With great skill, artistry, and devotion, they labored to fashion exquisite miniature trees, literally, in a tray. Bonsai craftsmen work decade upon decade to produce a single tree. Such trees, if healthy and well cared for, can last far beyond the life of their designers, being handed down to generation after generation of Bonsai lovers. Bonsai trees are not dwarf trees. Starting with a seedling, or very young ordinary tree - pine, juniper, maple, elm, brush cherry, cedar - among others, the Bonsai artist uses specific techniques - over long periods of time - shaping and pruning both roots and branches, to produce his miniature tree in a tray! The grower's artistic vision and skill determine the shape as well as the height of a bonsai tree - which might range from a few inches tall to all of fourteen inches after ten years of controlled growth. Along with their leaves, some bonsai will produce lovely flowers and/or fruit. You are a beginner in the field of bonsai art? Good! Your primary mission is to read all the up-to-date material you can find on the subject. Be sure you are familiar with what is actually involved. You will learn that bonsai trees are not ordinary plants, and ordinary plant care is not good enough. They need extraordinary care. If you are a faithful artist and caretaker, you will be amply rewarded continually by the health and beauty of your unique bonsai - shaped, pruned, growing and nurtured by your very own hands! Before you shop for your first plant, decide whether it will be an outdoor or indoor plant, keeping in mind the environment in which you and your bonsai will live. Is there ample sunlight as well as available shade (bonsai love sunlight, but not in the heat of the day). Can you maintain the disciplined watering schedule, the humidity, temperature, and soil type required by your plant? When it comes time for you to select and purchase a tree seedling or a plant, visit a nursery that grows and sells bonsai. Avoid purchasing from a retail department store, or kiosk in the mall - these outlets are mainly interested in selling their goods with little regard for the health of your selection. It takes time for the actual health of a bonsai to be revealed in its appearance. A bonsai might even be dead, and only an expert eye could detect it. Buy from a nursery where there are trained professionals in the art of bonsai. Be sure to ask for any literature they might have on the plant you are buying. So now you have your plant in hand and you are eager to embark on an exotic journey into the fascinating world of bonsai . . . living work of art . . . a tree in a tray . . . an ongoing creative experience you will enjoy for a lifetime. For more on the beautiful history of bonsai art try visiting http://www.beautiful-bonsai-trees.info, a popular website that provides bonsai tips, advice and resources to include information on a variety of bonsai styles to include the Shakan style, Kengai style and Chokkan style.
