By Ron Zvagelsky You meet a nice guy or girl and you hit it off. You got their phone number but how long should you wait before giving them a call? If youve seen the movie Swingers, you know what Im talking about. Let's look at some of the possible scenarios you may find yourself in: Call Right Away (within the first half-hour) How you see it: Just making sure they got home safely; or you just really enjoyed their company and you wanted to talk some more. How they see it: I just talked to this person 30 minutes ago...what else could they want to talk about? Call 3-6 Days Later How you see it: Didn't want to seem too desperate and/or wanted them to spend a few days thinking about why you weren't calling. How they see it: They didn't call because they were trying to look cool; what do they look like again? Call 7+ Days Later How you see it: Been busy and haven't gotten around to it...maybe the other person will want me more if I show them how little I care. How they see it: Who are you? The truth is, if you meet someone for the first time, how likely are they to remember you after a week? Now add drinks into the equation and youre lucky if they remember you the next day. Call the next day if you want to be safe, wait two days if you enjoy living on the edge. Ron Zvagelsky has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. Symptoms of Suicide
By Bren Davis Suicide accounts for about 1.26% of all deaths in the US each year. Throughout the years, there has been a significant increase in the rate among adolescents as well elderlies. What is suicide? Suicide is the act of deliberately ending one's own life. It is said that a large percentage of suicide cases are related to mood disorder or other psychiatric illness. Situations that might prompt suicidal thoughts or behavior are unemployment, financial problems, guilt feelings, alcohol or drug addiction, physical illness, death etc. Most people, mainly close friends, family members and relatives of the individuals who attempt suicide view suicide as an act of selfishness. However, the individuals who attempt or complete suicide feel/felt otherwise. They mistakenly believe that their act is doing their friends and family a favor. This irrational thought leads to suicidal behavior. One effective way of preventing suicide is early detection and help from professionals. Symptoms of Suicide > Impulsiveness > Tension > Anxiety > Expression of guilt feelings > Change in behavior or personality > Depression > Direct or indirect threats to commit suicide > Nervousness > Loss of appetite > fatigue > Facing problems concentrating > Drug or alcohol use or abuse > Aggressive behavior Suicide is not an option Seek help from professionals today. Brain Injury Attorneys
By Ken Marlborough Brain injury attorneys help victims who have suffered brain injuries due to an accident. These attorneys are always prepared to pursue a brain injury claim on your behalf. One of the main tasks of a brain injury attorney is to prove whether the brain injury his or client has suffered is severe or mild. It is not easy to differentiate between the two. A good brain injury attorney knows enough scientific jargon to prove his or her point in the court. If you or your loved one has suffered a brain injury it is better to go to a qualified brain injury attorney rather than a general attorney. There are several law firms which specialize in handling such cases. Some law firms deal with such cases under the personal injury category. Over a period of time some attorneys taking personal injury cases tend to develop a specialization in brain injury cases. The brain injury attorneys are generally supported by good research teams well-versed in medical and legal matters. Also, these attorneys keep in touch with medical experts who are consulted about the medical aspects of the case. As a brain injury can cause severe physical as well as psychological discomfort to the victim, a brain injury attorney must have lot of patience and sensitivity. If you want to file a claim in a court seeking compensation for a brain injury, the sooner you get in touch with an attorney, the better. Sometimes a delay in filing a case can have serious consequences on the final verdict, even if you have hired one of the best brain injury attorneys. But remember that the specialized attorneys who handle such cases come at a cost. The best among them are not affordable for most of the people, but some will work on contingency. Look out for them if you cant afford to hire an attorney on your own. Brain Injury Attorneys provides detailed information on Brain Injury Attorneys, Traumatic Brain Injury Attorneys, Aquired Brain Injury Attorneys, Anoxic Brain Injury Attorneys and more. Brain Injury Attorneys is affiliated with Finding Brain Injury Lawyers. Does Your Weight Loss Plan Include These 10 Essential Steps?
By Winston Ng Be prepared to be less effective and waste your own time, if your weight loss programme does not contain these quick lose fat tricks. 1. Must have a Change in Lifestyle Every effective weight loss programme will help clients change their lifestyle. This is absolutely critical to the long term success of the programme. Unfortunately, it is now fashionable to pop slimming pills or go for cellulite treatments to lose weight. The results from such programmes will never be permanent because the persons lifestyle would effortlessly put back all the weight. The very moment that these artificial programmes are halted, weight will come rushing back. When a person changes his/ her lifestyle, the unhealthy food and weight gaining activities will be eliminated from their daily lives. Hence, an effective weight loss system MUST have an in-built mechanism that helps clients refine their lifestyle. 2. Must include a Water Drinking plan BEFORE Meals Drinking at least a glass of water half an hour before meals is critical to weigh loss and maintenance of a healthy body. The water replenishes the fluids that will be used to make bicarbonate solution on the mucus membrane of our stomach lining. This protects the stomach from being burnt by its own acid fluid. Similarly, a well hydrated body reduces the urge to drink unhealthy drinks which introduce more toxins to your body. Furthermore, the body does not need to excessively retain water, thus making the body fatter than necessary. Lastly, a majority of people are chronically dehydrated though they seem to be leading normal lives. It is a common sight to see my clients reduce the amount they eat after they begin the water routine. Many people have lost the ability to differentiate between food hunger and water hunger. A systematic water plan will help them regain this lost touch. 3. Must include a systematic plan for reduction of sweetened and diuretic beverages. Sweetened drinks are beverages like soda, cola, diet cola, tea, coffee and beer. The three major groups of substances that would impede and slow down your weight loss are caffeine, sugar and sugar substitutes. Caffeine This is a diuretic substance that drains your body of water. It is roughly estimated that you lose 33% more fluid from your body then the amount you drank. If you drink one cup of coffee, you would lose all the fluid from the coffee plus an extra 1/3 a cup. This makes you body desperate to retain whatever water it can. In the long run, your bodys instinctive reaction is to retain water, hence giving out the round water-filled appearance. Diuretic drinks are coffee, tea, most colas, most sodas and beer (though it technically has no caffeine, it is a diuretic). Sugar Besides the numerous health damaging effects of sugar on your body, it also adds useless calories to your diet. When sugar enters the body it is broken down into glucose and the calorie that is created is termed empty calorie. It has absolutely no vitamins or minerals, hence it does not do any good to your body besides adding calories. Sugar substitutes Sugar substitutes like Aspartame (sold as nutrasweet) and Splenda cause you to overeat sugars (including carbohydrates) because receptors in the tongue have been trained, through the years, to expect sugar when it tastes sugar. Products like nutrasweet always tout that you get the taste of 8 (figurative number) spoonfuls of sugar but only half the spoonful of calories. In theory this sounds great, however, our receptors in the tongue will stop glucose production in the body and expect to be able to take it from the incoming food. So now it is expecting 8 times worth of sugar calories! But the sugar only provides 1/16th of that. The body now hungers for more food since it has shut down glucose production. All diet drinks that claim to be sugar free and sweets that are sugar free contain either nutrasweet or splenda, you can confirm it on the labels. 4. A Muscle growth programme You need a proper muscle growth plan if you ever want to stop spiralling back to your heavy weight. Programmes that are based on pills and nutrition tend to neglect or gloss over the muscle building plan. This is very dangerous because your muscle acts as a buffer for excess calories and helps maintain your weight and figure. Furthermore, there is no such thing as eating to build muscles as popularly believed. Muscles can only be built in the good old fashioned way make it do work. 5. A programme that focuses on the growth of the aerobic Type 1 muscle fibres. On the other extreme there are programmes that are excessively focused on going to the gym. That would mean they ask you to go twice or three times a week to the gym for weights. This is a waste of your time and probably they are building up Type II (a/b) muscles instead of Type 1 muscles fibres. This difference is important because Type II muscles are big and showy, but they require a lot of maintenance and have poor fat burning abilities. Type 1 muscle fibres hardly bulge but contain the highest amount of mitochondria, an essential enzyme in fat burning. 6. You must want to lose weight. Most people assume that being involved in an activity means that they actually want to do it. Many people busy themselves finding the greatest miracle weight loss cure or trying out every fad but never really achieving anything. Subconsciously, they do not want to lose weight, but the appearance of busy effort allows them to gain affection or acceptance by loved ones, peers and their own inner selves! 7. A Nutrition plan that reflects personal individuality. When we buy clothes, especially expensive ones, we always insist on having it tailored to our size. Sometimes, the sleeve may be too long but the chest perfect fit. That is why stores have many different labels to suit different body size and shapes. Similarly, the food we eat should also be tailored to our body, not just in terms of size (calories) but also in terms of design. Nutrition programmes need to first assess and categorise our body type or blood type or metabolic type (not limited to these categories), before any recommendations can be made. 8. The plan should never come with food restriction. Yes the unbelievable! Most of my clients are shocked when I advise this to them. It is an accepted fact that all diets mean that you have to give up on your favourite foods. This is totally untrue and will in fact destroy the sustainability of the programme. We are creatures of greed; we always want what we cannot have. That is hardwired into us. Hence, the command not to eat a particular food will conversely create a greater demand for it. The correct technique should be learning to manage the urge, rather than suppressing it. 9. It must have a component that includes aerobic walking or jogging. Ultimately, our body thrives to walk, jog and run, that is our basic function as human beings. For many overweight people, this function has been dormant and numbed for too long. Aerobic walking or jogging is essential to any weight loss programme because it gradually helps your body to adjust to the change in weight load as you slim down. Swimming or carrying weights in an aerobic fashion is not a substitute because the whole body is not engaged in the activity. 10. The programme MUST be sustainable relative to your daily workload and commitments. You cannot and should not embark on a quad weekly (4 times a week) get slim course if you already have to juggle two jobs and a family. Firstly, it is absolutely impossible for you to sustain the hectic schedule in the long run. Secondly, it would create a phobia within you, framing your mindset that weight loss is a strenuous and painful event. A healthy lifestyle is a fun activity that should preferably involve your family and loved ones, the last thing you would ever want to do is to sign up for a programme that is too daunting to complete. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Reproduction of this article Original Article archived at http://www.phenogy.com/index.php/articles/

Bartender for Hire How to Land Your Perfect Bartending Job
By Ben Ehinger Are you a bartender, but sick of working crappy little jobs behind restaurant bars and small bars that dont pay very well? Here is the fastest way to land the bartending job that you have always wanted. The first thing you need to have is an attitude that you are going to get hired and you are the best. Bartenders dont want to take chances on bartenders that they are not sure of. They want someone they know or have built a trust with. Dont be afraid to be a bar back or a server for a little while first, as long as your manager understands that you are going to be the next bartender. The second thing you need is a never quit attitude. When you go out looking for a new bartending job you have to visit many locations and really put yourself out there. You need to go back to the place you apply and ask for interviews. It is harder to get turned down in person than over the phone. The last thing you need to know is that you have to ask for a tryout. Sometimes when you ask for a tryout you can get one or two shifts to show your stuff. Make sure you show your stuff and prove that you deserve the job. When you are looking for a bartending job these are a few things to remember. Also dont waste your time looking in the paper because bartending jobs are rarely advertised. Get out there and start looking for that job. Get the bartending job you have always dreamed of and start making over $300 a shift. Understanding Meats: Why Red Meat is Red and Why White Meat is White
By Farouk Othman Animal muscle turns to meat after slaughtering. Meat is surrounded by a layer of connective tissues, consisting almost entirely protein collagen. Meat tissues are composed of three main factors, water, protein (connective tissue) and fat. Carbohydrate also appears in meat as it gives the browning effect of meat when cooked. Without this carbohydrate, the desirable flavor and appearance of browned meat would not be achieved. Meat are mainly referred as red or dark and white meat. Red or dark meat is mainly made up of muscles with fibers that are called slow fibers. These muscles are used for extended periods of activity, such as standing or walking and need a consistent energy source. The protein myoglobin stores oxygen in muscle cells, which use oxygen to extract the energy needed for constant activity. Myoglobin is a richly pigmented protein. The more myoglobin there is in the cells, the redder or darker, the meat is. Red meat is red because the muscle fibers that make up the bulk of the meat contain a high content of myoglobin, which are colored red. Myoglobin, a protein similar to hemoglobin in red blood cells, acts as a store for oxygen within the muscle fibers. White meat is made up of muscles with fibers that are called fast fibers. Fast fibers muscles are used for quick bursts of activity, such as fleeing from danger. These muscles get energy from glycogen, which is also stored in the muscles. White meat as in fish has a translucent "glassy" quality when it is raw. Animal such as calf and pigs are also categorized as white meat. Veal meat is white because it is slaughtered after the calf been milk fed, approximately up to one year old. Pigs are lazy animal; they are not as active as cows, so their body contains more fat than any other animal. White meat is white because there is less usage in the muscle. Myoglobin content is low in these muscles. This is why chicken breast, pork and veal are slightly pink or white, before or after cooked. Fish is white because it lives in water and does not need to support its own body weight. Basically, there are no myoglobins in these muscles. The difference between meat and fish muscle tissue is that there is no tough connective tissue between the muscles and bones. Cows and pigs are both sources of dark meat, though pig is often called "the other white meat." Pigs muscles do contain myoglobin, but the concentration is not as heavy as it is in beef. Chickens have a mixture of both dark and white meat, and fish is mainly white meat. Chicken spend a lot of time walking around and standing. Their thigh and leg muscles are used constantly, so the meat from these parts is slightly darker than its breast. Since they rarely fly, and then only for very short distances, the meat that comes from the breast and wings is white. In contrast, wild birds such as ducks fly a lot; the meat from their breasts and wings is dark. Same goes with their legs, as they use them for swimming. Cows spend a lot of time standing, walking and so their muscles are constantly being used. Therefore, beef has a fairly high concentration of myoglobin and is dark red. Pigs also can spend quite a bit of time standing and roaming around. The pink color of pork is due to myoglobin, but because the animals used for pork and veal are young and small, their muscles are less developed and do less work. Therefore, pigs and calf have a lower concentration of myoglobin in their muscles than cows. The only similarity between these four animals is that they are mammals on land. Fish float in water and do not need constant muscle energy to support their skeletons. Most fish meat is white, with some red meat around the fins and tail, which is used for swimming. The pink colored of some fish, such as wild salmon and trout, is due to astaxanthin, a naturally occurring pigment in the crustaceans they eat. Fish such as sharks and tuna has a dark or red flesh because it contains more myoglobin as they are fast swimmers and a migratory fish. Juiciness and tenderness are two very important factors when it comes to meat quality. Both factors are influenced by the cut of meat and how long the meat is cooked. The more a muscle is used, the stronger and therefore tougher, the cut of meat will be. In contrast, the longer meat is cooked, the more liquid it loses and the tougher it becomes. Factors that also influence tenderness and juiciness are: The animal's age at slaughter, the amount of fat and collagen (connective tissue) contained in particular cuts and to a small degree, brining. Collagen is a long, stiff protein that is the most prevalent protein in mammals. It's made up of three separate molecules composed of amino acid chains, twisted around each other, something like the way fibers are twisted around each other to form a rope. This structure is what makes the collagen so strong; this strength is also what makes it more difficult to break down. The more collagen there is in a piece of meat, the tougher it is to cut and to chew. Skin is mostly collagen, as are the tendons that connect muscles to bones. For cuts that are high in collagen, cooking with methods that use slow, moist heat, such as stewing or braising, are the best. Collagen is soluble in water and when it is cooked slowly with moist heat, it becomes gelatin. Collagen can be less tough by slicing up the meat into smaller pieces, which makes the fiber smaller and easier to break apart. Weight-bearing muscles and muscles that are constantly used contain higher amounts of collagen than muscles that aren't used for support or aren't used as frequently. Cows and pigs have higher amounts of collagen in the legs, chest, and rump. Pork is generally more tender than beef, because pigs are usually slaughtered at a younger age than cows and so their muscles are less developed and have less collagen than those of cows. Fish muscles are quite different from those in mammals. Fish float in water and so don't need muscle to support their weight. Their muscle fiber are very short called myotomes and are held together by connective tissue called myocammata, which is much more delicate than collagen and breaks down much more easily when cooked. The only muscles that most fish use extensively are around the tail and fins (areas that aren't eaten as often by humans), which are used for constant cruising around in the water. Once caught, (dead) fish are stored in an ice room with standing temperature of 1-3C. Farouk is a professional Chef and has worked and travelled all over the world. As well as working full time as a senior Chef, Farouk regularly writes interesting articles such this one on meats and also contributes frequently to http://www.chefspencil.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Farouk_Othman http://EzineArticles.com/?Understanding-Meats:-Why-Red-Meat-is-Red-and-Why-White-Meat-is-White&id=329353 sniffing lorazepam

Farewell To The Atkins Low Carb Diet
By Rich Rojas Atkins Nutritionals recently announced that they are filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It seems that the low carb craze was nothing more than just a passing fad. Well my friends I have come to both praise and bury the Atkins Diet. I first discovered low carb diets about 15 years ago -- well before their recent popularity. My first introduction was by way of a book entitled The Endocrine Control Diet. Like the Atkins Diet and other low carb diets for that matter, it was based on a severely restricted carbohydrate intake - less than 50 grams of carbs per day. You put your body into a state of ketosis and force it to burn fat instead of glucose. I was amazed at how quickly I was able to drop weight on the diet. If memory serves correctly, I dropped 15 lbs in little over a week. Sure, a portion of it was water and muscle weight, but I also dropped quite a bit of body fat. I could tell it was fat because my waistline shrunk substantially. The Endocrine Control Diet was strict about keeping carbs low and remaining in a state of ketosis until you reached your weight loss goal. This was tracked on a daily basis by peeing on Keto Strips to make sure you were still in ketosis. I stayed on the diet for about 2 months before reverting back to my former diet. The interesting thing was that I was able to keep my weight down for another 3 months before getting back up to where I was before the diet. I should mention that during the diet that I was lifting weights and doing cardio exercise on a regular basis. I sincerely believe that this factor was vital in retaining lean muscle mass while dropping as much body fat as possible while on a calorie restricted, low carb diet. In the intervening years I tried other low carb diets that were all variations on the same theme. The one constant for me was keeping up with my weight training and cardio exercise. Each and every time I was able to drop 15 20 lbs in as little as 3 weeks and keep it off for at least 3 months after stopping the diet. The biggest problem I have with low carb diets is that Im personally unable to stay on them for more that 3 months at a time. Its just too damn hard! Lets face it I like my carbs. Being of Italian extraction I was raised on pasta and bread. I also love Chinese cuisine with extra rice and have a fondness for potatoes. All of these foods are taboo on a low carb diet! In the end, a low carb diet is not very realistic or very sociable for that matter. Ive never been too worried about the health effects though. Ive had my cholesterol checked both on and off the low carb diets and there have been no variation in the readings even when Ive consumed extra fat during some of the diets. My total cholesterol has always hovered around 200, which could be lower, but is the cutoff for a normal level. Now that I know the power of a low carb diet to quickly take off weight, it will always be part of my fitness arsenal. The real secret is to combine the diet, and any diet for that matter, with a program of regular exercise that includes both weight training and cardiovascular exercise. I think the best approach is to cycle your diet plan like professional bodybuilders do. Target a period for when you want to be at your leanest like the summer months at the beach or a high school reunion or wedding and start a low carb diet about 2-3 months out. Youll hit your peak right when youre ready to go back to your normal eating habits and you can count on staying lean for several weeks afterward. The real secret is to always stay within 10-15 lbs of your fighting weight and know that you can get there in a hurry with a low carb diet.
